Singer, songwriter, dancer. Born and raised in Ethiopia with Armenian origins.
Interest in music started very early on when he used to attend rehearsals of his uncle and aunt’s band, the Sevan Band (one of the best bands in Ethiopia during the 80s) He’s been dancing since he was 2 years old. Attended the Armenian Community school as well as enjoyed singing in the school choir. Also took classical piano lessons as a hobby.
In high school started choreographing for dance shows, Latin, hip hop, and more contemporary styles both for group and solo routines.
Attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada where he joined the UBC Dance Club and was trained professionally as an International Style Latin American ballroom dancer, competing in many competitions throughout the west coast of Canada from 1999-2005. Started salsa dancing socially in Canada also. After he finished his undergraduate degree he moved back to Ethiopia and started teaching salsa classes and ballroom dancing classes and continued show dancing.
Finally started working in music full time in August of 2010, performing with the band Z Beyaynetus with a friend’s encouragement. Works extensively with Kenny Allen, an American artist currently living, performing and producing in Ethiopia.
Currently teaching private salsa and Latin American Ballroom Dancing classes as well as working as a vocalist with Z Beyaynetus Band, the 251 band and Eshee Havana, the only Salsa band in Ethiopia. Also currently opening the weekly show and singing supporting vocals for renowned Ethiopian artist Zeritu Kebede with the backing of Nubian Arc.
He has 2 released singles. “Life or Something Like it”, produced by Michael Hailu, and his latest song “Don’t Stop” produced by Kenny Allen.
He’s working on an album which will be realesed mid 2012 which will be a mix of styles, genres as well as languages.
