Paul Baghdadlian’s final resting place came as the sun rose in Los Angeles on July 9th 2011. It had been almost two weeks since the king of Armenian Love Songs lost his battle with Cancer. Over a thousand people paid their last respect to our Legend at St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Glendale California. The Church itself was packed to the rim and people were lined up standing against the back walls, most could not get in as they all spilled over to the outside entrance and parking lot. Some notable Armenian celebrities also showed up, including Joseph Krikorian, Harut Hagopian, Armenchik, Sako, Maxim, Antoine Bezdjian, Zareh Kasbarian, Khoren Mouradian, Ara Shahbazian, Benny Blanko, Nersik Ispiryan, Ararat Amadyan, Shiraz, Vatche Meguerditchian, Hratch Bogharian, Sahag Sislian, Harout Khachoyan, Super Sako and much more! Sheriff Lee Baca was also present along with his deputies. It’s a great honor to have the Sheriff attend the services as he mostly attends high profile funerals.
Paul Baghdadlian’s grey/metallic casket was draped with The Armenian flag and a huge white rose bouquet in the middle. Flowers were draped all along the front of the Church as well, along with a standing heart shaped bouquet that had a large black and white picture of a more youthful Paul Baghdadlian. It was a beautiful yet heart-wrenching service that had most people wiping tears. When the hour long service commenced, the family men, along with Paul’s two sons, Paul Jr and Christopher acted as pallbearers and proceeded to deliver the casket to the hearse.
With a motorcade and Police escort, it was a short drive to Forrest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills, where Armenian Legend and true superstar, Paul Baghdadlian was put to rest! He no longer suffers with the pain in his life and we continue to pray for him as he touched so many of our hearts! May you rest in peace Paul Baghdadlian, our King of Love songs!
UPDATE::: JUST ADDED!!! Special thanks to Joseph Krikorian and Shant Bashian for this video!
